Welcome to the first of what should be many posts on the progress of creating the website for The Shaper’s World. Eventually, members — we’ll call them “natives” — will collaborate, create, and converse about the world they’ll all help to build through a variety of disciplines and creative endeavors. First, though, I’ll do my best to document my efforts to build the site itself.

Why Build In Public?

Because I’m only one brain. One of the first things I’ll be doing is opening a forums system on this site, where the folks who have expressed early interest in the Shaper’s World will be invited to plant the first germ of community here. I’ll be throwing ideas and concept at them in the forums, and I’m going to count on them to keep an eye on the forest while I prune and shape the trees with what will undoubtedly become a myopic perspective.

Because the goal of The Shaper’s World website is to create an entire world, and it just seems appropriate to start that collaborative process with the creation of the site itself.
